In October Boots’ mom came home to find a very sick kitty. He was yowling in pain and unable to go to the bathroom. Boots needed help and he needed it fast. Thankfully, the Weirdos stepped up like they always do and raised funds to send Boots to the vet. Once there, the vet found that Boots had crystals that were blocking his ability to urinate. The vet had to insert a catheter and get him on fluids. It was a rough few days for Boots and his mama. His mom went to visit him very day he was at the vet to check in and see how he was and give him encouragement to get better to come home. Due to his severe blockage and the crystal formation, without a specialized diet, Boots could very likely find himself in this same situation again. Thanks to the money raised for Boots we were also able to provide him and his mom a few weeks supply of the special RX food from the vet! We are so happy that Boots is back home with his mom and his doggy fur brother!

One year ago today I adopted Hati. He was posted in this group desperate for a home. APL said he was not adoptable due to a grade 5 heart murmur. I kept going back to his post hoping he would find a home. Lesley knew he was right for my home. She talked me through what to expect with a cat having a heart murmur and encouraged me to adopt him. So after a few days of watching the post and Lesley gently nudging me, Rachel and I made the drive to Columbus to pick him up (and stopped at the Cheese Barn). Hati (which means heart in Malay) was not exactly the easiest cat at first. He wasn’t excited to be living the indoor life. I would have to walk into the room with pillow to my legs to try and avoid him charging me. Even doing that there was blood many times, mine never his. Hati was scraggly (I admit I used to think, geez you’re one ugly cat) mean, and would scarf his food too fast then puke it up because he wasn’t used to having a a consistent food source. After months of working with him I was finally able to get him to the vet. His heart murmur was down to a 2! Then even more shocking he went to the vet 3 months ago and the vet heard NO heart murmur. Hati is now the sweetest most loving cat. Snuggles with me every night and I usually wake up and can’t move because he’s passed out on my chest. He still had his boundaries. Pet him, love him, kiss him but don’t pick him up. In only a year Hati has me wrapped around his little paw. Thanks for everyone that helped me get through the rough days with him, especially Lesley who got me at my worst lol! Some cats just need a little more time and patience.
-Christy K. O'Malley Taco is a two year old rescue kitty who has had a summer and fall full of vet appointments. Taco is presenting with sneezing, coughing, and wheezing. Her mom, Stacey, had taken Taco be be seen by to two different vets adding up to 6 visits, many different meds, an x-ray and poor Taco still not feeling her best. Taco still needed more in depth diagnostic testing to get to the root of her problem. The Weirdos made a few calls and decided on Avon Lake Animal Clinic to send Taco to for a feline respiratory disease panel. Hopefully this panel will give us some much needed answers and we can get Taco on the road to recovery and back to carefree snuggles with her mom and fur-brother!
Charlie is a former feral who was trapped and found to be friendly. He had a huge, non-healing wound on his neck which his rescuer has been dealing with for 4 months. Every time it would start to heal, Charlie would claw it open. Today Weirdos paid for him to get surgery at Mogadore Veterinary Hospital. It went well and the wound has been closed and a Penrose drain placed inside. He has also had cold laser therapy to help with healing and nail caps placed on his claws. He will return to the hospital in 3 days for drain removal and more cold laser therapy.
Hi! My name is T'Challa. I used to be an outside cat at Joan Marvin's house. Well, one day I got the opportunity to get a forever home. My foster Momma, Joan took me to the vet to get checked out so I could go to live with a lady named Dawn. I got the whole nine yards of a check up and my foster mom was worried about paying for the procedures. When she went to pay the vet, to her surprise the bill had been paid. My Foster Momma stood there crying with happiness. The Weirdo group had paid and she no longer had to worry about feeding the other cats at home because my bill was payed. This was only one time my foster Momma was helped by this group. By the way, I am now very spoiled in my new home. I am now the Cats Meow!
We helped Miles when his auto immune disorder flared yet again and he owner had run out of care credit. He was desperately ill and had what the vet described as "no visible platelet count". Right now he takes a daily steroid which, while not ideal, has helped him be flare free since. He is his owners very best friend and he recently celebrated his 3rd birthday.
This is Ace. Ace tested positive for toxoplasmosis and was very poorly indeed with all the neurological symptoms that comes with it. His Mummy was terribly worried. Weirdos paid for him to go to the vet where he was given Azithromycin. Another vet visit put him on Clindamycin. Ace turned out to be a rare case of very allergic of Clindamycin. This was a big setback. But his Mummy persevered and after a month of Azithromycin, Ace is now a happy and healthy cat, enjoying life.
This is Titus (formerly known as Porchie). Titus was found under a members porch and he was not in good shape. He was really a team effort. One of our Mods temporarily housed and cared for him, another Mod took him to the vet, where members paid for him to be checked. It was determined he was FIV positive. We wondered if we could get an adopter for him. But yes, a lovely member stepped up and he is now well, happy, thoroughly loved and part of a cat family.
This cat was spotted in a McDonald's parting lot some days ago, a little skittish, thin and very hungry. Today she has been trapped and in safe and warm in her rescuers home. She will be going to Porter Pet Hospital for a full veterinary overhaul prior to going up for adoption.
This is Tigglez. Earlier this year her owner was trying to get his cats spayed and neutered. He had been largely successful in his endeavors, but just as his oldest was about to go in for surgery, she was diagnosed with pyometra. Her owner was distraught, but Weirdos paid for her surgery and treatment at Gateway Animal Clinic and now she is happy and well.
