One year ago today I adopted Hati. He was posted in this group desperate for a home. APL said he was not adoptable due to a grade 5 heart murmur. I kept going back to his post hoping he would find a home. Lesley knew he was right for my home. She talked me through what to expect with a cat having a heart murmur and encouraged me to adopt him. So after a few days of watching the post and Lesley gently nudging me, Rachel and I made the drive to Columbus to pick him up (and stopped at the Cheese Barn). Hati (which means heart in Malay) was not exactly the easiest cat at first. He wasn’t excited to be living the indoor life. I would have to walk into the room with pillow to my legs to try and avoid him charging me. Even doing that there was blood many times, mine never his. Hati was scraggly (I admit I used to think, geez you’re one ugly cat) mean, and would scarf his food too fast then puke it up because he wasn’t used to having a a consistent food source. After months of working with him I was finally able to get him to the vet. His heart murmur was down to a 2! Then even more shocking he went to the vet 3 months ago and the vet heard NO heart murmur. Hati is now the sweetest most loving cat. Snuggles with me every night and I usually wake up and can’t move because he’s passed out on my chest. He still had his boundaries. Pet him, love him, kiss him but don’t pick him up. In only a year Hati has me wrapped around his little paw. Thanks for everyone that helped me get through the rough days with him, especially Lesley who got me at my worst lol! Some cats just need a little more time and patience.
