Vader’s mom came home and found him struggling to breathe so she rushed him to the emergency vet. Vader was given IV fluids, oxygen therapy and medication. Vader has beginning heart failure and a grade 3 heart murmur so he will need to stay on medication and go for follow ups, but thanks to his treatment he will have years left to be loved.
“Vader is doing amazing. He’s eating like a champ, drinking well, and taking his meds better than you’d expect! My fiancé and I both have alarms set at the time for his meds, and when he hears those go off he knows! A t first we had to wrap him up like a burrito, but now he comes running to the coffee table and sits there waiting. We also found out he has a level 3 heart murmur, so we have to monitor that on top of his hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. We will continue to take him for follow up testing to make sure his heart is doing okay and his organs are not being affected by his medicine. Vader is very active with his brothers, Chewy and Nugget. He’s so happy and is still as mean as can be! He definitely thinks he’s the king of the house. I love and adore each and every one of the Weirdos for helping us and our chonky boy Vader. Without the Weirdos we would have lost him. He’s definitely our special little chonk chonk and we love him so much. We will forever be in awe of the Weirdos kindness and generosity.” -Samantha Keener
